playing with the space

June 6. 2005 Ju read an interview with a Hungarian architect Dezso Ekler. His view on life was very close to our heart:

"...Where then can we find hairline cracks, alternatives, or ways out? I think the opportunity for getting out exists at every point, in our every decision. There are alternatives in every aspect of our lives. Don’t watch television. People, don’t watch television! I don’t watch television, and my children don’t watch television. They’ve been much better since they stopped. I’ve been much better. In the evening, we remain around the table after dinner and talk. My children tell me what they think about things. They speak in whole sentences. They have opinions. My children read books. This enlarges their vocabulary. Our home is our home. We feel good with each other. Friends come over, we offer them some wine, and we talk." (the entire interview can be found at www.ekler-architect.hu).

After reading his publications and seeing some of his work we asked him to design a house for us.
